IWPR event to host expert discussion on the current conflict and prospects for the future.
The worst fighting since the 1994 ceasefire agreement broke out between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorny Karabakh on September 27. Harsh rhetoric from leaders of both countries and failures in negotiation preceded the renewed violence.
There has also been an unusually high concentration of advanced military hardware on both sides, and fighting continues despite the calls for de-escalation and ceasefire. Disinformation and propaganda are also mounting; fear, shock and nationalistic narratives mute constructive local discourse and dialogue about the consequences of violences.
Join us on October 21 as leading experts on Karabakh discuss the current situation and prospects for the future.
